TRADE AGREEMENTS: AN INTERNATIONAL
PERSPECTIVE FOR THE LEGAL ENVIRONMENT

INTRODUCTION


  During   the next  decade, the growing  importance   of free trade
agreements  will shape international business law. This regionalization
offers a framework to study the structure of world trade law and how
these  differences  affect international business.  Teaching   trade
agreements  provides a vehicle for practical application of international
law concepts in the legal environment course and for analysis of how
the world views and  regulates business.
  Trade  agreements  are becoming the backbone of international trade
law, replacing many bilateral treaties and supplementing multilateral
agreements   such as  the General Agreement   on  Trade  and Tariffs
(GATT).' This article will address the importance of trade agreements,
suggest ways  to incorporate them into the legal environment course,2
