Association will meet at the Harvard Law School
in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in June
The International Association of' Law-Libraries will hold a general
meeting on June 24 and 25, 1961 at the Harvard Law School in Cambridge,
Massachusetts, immediately prior to the annual conference of the American
Association of Law Libraries which is being held nearby in Boston from June 26-29.,
Amorg the topics which will be discussed at the various sessions of the
International Association are The Creation of World Law Libiaries, The
Improvement of American Law Collections in Libraries Outside of the United States
and Foreign Law Collections in American Libraries. One session will be concerned
with the various problems that arise in the acquisition of foreign legal materials
and will, among other things, consider the advisability of liberalizing existing
treaty provisions so as further to facilitate the exchange of books and other
materials between libraries located in different countries.
Consideration will also be given to the role of international library
associations generally and, in particular, to the part the International
Association of Law Libraries may play in the further development and utilization
of the legal resources of law and parliamentary libraries.
Reports of the officers and of the Board of Directors will be submitted
and their recommendations will serve as the basis for the development of plans
for the future work of the Association.
Delegates will also lave an opportunity to visit the Harvard Law School,
with its great legal collection of materials from all over the world and they may
ittend all sessions of the, annual meeting of the American Association of Law
jibraries which, as mentioned above, is being held nearby in Boston from June
!6-29, 1961. There are also a number of other important law libraries on the
,tlantic coast and in other parts of the United States,,including the Law Library
if the Library of Congress in trahington, D.C. A visit to the United Nations in
ew York City should also be of interest.
