HOUSTON JOURNAL OF HEALTH LAW & POLICY

Membership
The University of Houston Law Center's Health Law & Policy Institute was founded in 1978 as a joint project of the University of
Houston Law Center and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. The Health Law & Policy Institute offers nearly
twenty classes on health law topics to J.D. and LL.M. students each year. The Institute's faculty members engage in an active program
of scholarly and funded research. For the past several years, the Institute has received funding from the Texas Legislature to conduct
research on health law and policy issues confronting the state. The health law program is consistently ranked as one of the best in the
United States on national surveys, including U.S. News & World Report. The University of Houston Law Center established the Houston
Journal of Health Law & Policy in 1999. The Journal is staffed by second- and third-year law students who are selected from the Law
Center's students in good standing and through a competitive writing competition.
