Commencing with Vol. 8, No. 1, the name of the ROCKY MOUNTAIN
MINERAL LAW REVIEW was changed to the PUBLIC LAND AND RESOURCES
LAW DIGEST. This name change was made in order to reflect the expanded scope
of articles reprinted or abstracted and indexed. In addition to mining, oil and gas,
and water law, the DIGEST covers public land in the areas of grazing, timber, and
environmental law which affect commercial resource users of public and private
lands.
The purpose of the publication is to reprint or abstract selected articles and
index all articles from all of the various law reviews and other legal periodicals
across the country which contain a wealth of literature on mining, oil and gas,
water, public land and environmental law. The periodicals are reviewed by the
Editorial Board in determining those articles to be reprinted or abstracted. All of
the resource-related articles are indexed by subject matter. This material would
otherwise be unavailable to attorneys, but through this digest-type publication,
attorneys are exposed to nearly all of the periodical literature on natural resources
and public land law.
The approach of the PUBLIC LAND AND RESOURCES LAW DIGEST is
three-fold:
1.) Reprints of those articles published during the preceding six months, which
the Editorial Board believes should be read in full by practitioners, make up
the first part of each issue.
2.) Abstracts of those articles covering subjects on which practitioners should
      have some knowledge.
3.) Indices on all resource-related articles published during the preceding six
months. The Subject Index is separate for Public Land Law, Mineral Law,
and Water Law. There is also an Article Index and Author Index.
Collectively, the issues of the REVIEW and the DIGEST provide the natural
resources practitioner with his must reading along with a complete index of
articles on public land, minerals and water law from January 1, 1962, through the
date of the materials covered in the most recent issue.
