Qi Yu, Party Secretary of the CPC Committee of the Foreign Ministry, chaired the ceremony, and Liang Yanshun, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, addressed the ceremony. Also attending the event were Qu Qingshan, President of the Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee, Tian Peiyan, Deputy Director of the CPC Central Policy Research Office, and Vice Foreign Ministers Le Yucheng and Zheng Zeguang. In his speech, State Councilor Wang Yi hailed the Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy as a momentous achievement of epoch-making significance in the development of China's diplomatic theories since 1949 which is scientific, up-to-date, advanced and action- oriented. He called for conscientious study and earnest implementation of the Thought to break new ground for the major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics. Established by the Foreign Ministry with China Institute of International Studies (CIIS) as the supporting institution, the Center aims to coordinate resources nationwide and carry out comprehensive, systematic, and in-depth studies, explanations, and introductions of the Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy.
