                 MEINGS
                         N THE PORT OF CHICAGO AND THE ST. LAWRENCE SEAWAY was
                         presented by Mr. Paul Zimmer, Director of the Research
                         Division of the Department of City Planning of Chicago,
at the March 6, 1959 C.AoL.Lo luncheon. Accompanying color slides intensified
the librariangs realization of future demand for admiralty law.


ANNUAL LIBRARY    ROBERT Q. KELLY, PAST-PRESIDENT, sponsored and hosted this
     TOUR         year's Annual Meeting with a personally conducted tour of the
                  new De Paul University Law School now housed in a Chicago Loop
skyscraper. Dinner was served at Milner's Williamsburg Restaurant.


IMID - YEAR0    THE SIXTIETH MEETING of the Council of Delegates of the National
   NAWL         Association of Women Lawyers was held in Chicago, February 20-21.
                The Department of State brought three women lawyers, all members
of the Chamber of Deputies of the Congress of Chile, and an interpreter, to the
sessions. Goldie Green Alperin served on the Convention Committee.

CHICAGO CHAPTER, held it's April 16 meeting with EURT
SCHWERIN delivering the main address of the evening.

                        CORNERSTONE LAYING CEREMONIES
                        for the Robert R. McCormick Hall, the addition to the
                        building of the Northwestern University Law School, were
                        held May 5, on the Chicago Campus.  Governor Stratton,
                        Mayor Daley, Associate Justice John M. Harlan of the U.S.
                        Supreme Court, Kenneth F. Burgess, President of the Board
                        of Trustees of the University, Harold A. Smith, President
                        of the Law Alumni Association and Stewart T. Owen,
Trustee of the McCormick Charitable Trust joined President Dr. J. Roscoe Miller
and Dean John Ritchie, III, in ceremonies in Thorne Hall and on the adjoining
building site. McCormick Hall is scheduled for completion in the fall of 1959
during the Law School's Centennial Year.
