Enhanced interrogation techniques included shackling a
detainee in stress positions and confined spaces, prolonged sleep
deprivation,  and   83   episodes  of  waterboarding. During      one
waterboarding session, a detainee    Zubaydah    became completely
unresponsive, with bubbles rising through his open, full mouth. He
described the experience as follows: It felt like an eternity, to the point
that Ifound myselffalling asleep despite the water being thrown at me by
the guard[.]1
