The UAE Federal Law imposes penalties for all such violations, however without achieving the purpose of deterrence or punishment. Keywords UAE penal protection - public health - pollution - environmental law 1 Introduction The subject of this analytical research is the penal protection of public health from the effects of pollution in light of the UAE Federal Environmental Protection and Development Law No. 24 of 1999. This law expresses many of the penal manifestations generally aimed to protect public health from the effects of pollution, particularly regarding violations leading to air, water and land pollution, to excessive noise, or to the unsafe disposal of hazardous sub- stances or medical wastes.
