Editorial

Welcome to the inaugural issue of the rebadged Journal of Legal Philosophy (JLP).
The JLP continues the Australasian Journal of Legal Philosophy (also formerly
called the Australian Journal of Legal Philosophy), which has been published
continuously for more than 30 years. The renamed journal is published by Edward
Elgar Publishing in partnership with the Australasian Society of Legal Philosophy.
The JLP is an international journal publishing theoretical work relating to law and
legal studies. It aims to be inclusive, innovative and socially engaged. The journal's
main focus is on legal philosophy or jurisprudence, but it also publishes work in
ethical, political and social theory that considers questions relevant to law.
The JLP's scope encompasses analytical jurisprudence, socio-legal theory and
critical and continental perspectives, as well as applied work in normative jurispru-
dence and theoretical studies of specific fields of law. Unlike some other journals in
the field, the JLP welcomes theoretical work on the law of particular nations, provided
it raises wider questions that will interest readers from other jurisdictions.
The JLP has a strong and diverse international editorial board and takes an efficient
and author-friendly approach to the submission process. All submissions are initially
reviewed by the Editors and, if deemed suitable for the journal, are sent out for
double-blind external peer review. The initial editorial review is typically completed
within two weeks, while the full review process typically takes six to eight weeks.
The JLP welcomes English-language submissions from any part of the world and is
happy to consider work by doctoral students. We hope readers will support the journal
by submitting their work and encouraging colleagues and students to do likewise. Full
submission instructions appear on the journal's website.
