employed as an orthopedic surgeon at the Havana
psychiatric Hospital. According to sitbsource s
father-in-law, Subject was very active politically
during his university studies; he belonged to the
Student Left Wing (Ala Izquierda Estudiantil) at
Havana University, which organization followed PSP
directives. When Subject had completed his medical-
studies, he directed his political activities at
the National Medical College and controlled the
College for several years prior to 1959, during
which years he was able to select the presidents of
the College.
