The new bladder has as Its xlnt of exit what hrad f e hyiological anus. This surgery was done by .Dra. Rubin, Winton and. Needell. Anproxinately one -week or 10 days later he developed a mass in the right lower quadrant and I =as calledto. se him and the rrass in the right lower quadrant was diagnosed as pericecal abces3 and it was opened and d'rined. The mass subsided and this situation cleared up completely. Approximately 1 months prior to this last- hospitalizqtjon, he was readmi~ted to Jackson Memnrial Hosoital because he was passing sone blood' through the new rectu~iand he had had a drop in Hgb. &e also developed numerous pe-a'nal-fistulae and he was Dassing:gas and' ?eces through the fistul well. s throuah the penis. I las again called and nelnectgd- to do a transverse-colostomy to clear.up these fistulas. 'Thiswas done and the colostomy was unetuntning p-rfectly. It has resulted in the drying up of all the perineal fistulae. The patient came to my office the day before.ad.ssion to the hospitaland on-this occAsion he complained of b1-rg rnauceated and not being ablo to heop anything on his :atonah and of feeling very soak. He was very pale. His H$b. done in the office was read as- 45%. He was - then admitted to Hialeah Hospital and a G.I. series revealed the c~istence of a duodenal ulcer. All other studies were essentially negative other than the persistence of a fistula between the new rectum and the penis. Since sdmission to the hospital he has received transfusions and has been placed on diet and medication.
