                    SOURCE A former  Cuban  IS officer who  served with  the Cuban  Intelligence
                           Service  until April  1964.                                             -

                           The following  report  is one of  a series containing  personality
                           information  provided  by the source  and includes  supplemental
                           informition  from the  records of  this Agency.

                           It is requested  that  the addressees  take no  action on any  of
                           the individuals  mentioned  in the  personality  reports without
                           first cr.ecking with  this Agency.


                               1.  When  source was  queried concerning  his  knowledge of
                          Rogelio  TAMAYO,  he said  that TAMAYO  works for  the Cuban
                          Ministry  of  Foreign Commerce  in  the Culia-Azucar Department .
                          TAM!AYO. according  to source,  has no  connection  with the
                          Direccion  General  de Inteligencia   (General Directorate  of
                          Intelligence   - DGI) or  the Departamento  de Seguridad  del Estado
                          (Department  of  State Security  - DSE).

                               2.  TAMAYO  was described  as having  been born  about 1937,  being
                          five  feet eight  inches tall,  1353p und  , having  a thin build,
                          black  hair, and  black eyes.  i  13,  , 1

                          Headquarters  Comments

                          1.  An  untested  source, in  a report dated  3 October  1962, reported
                               that Rogelio  TA1AYO, an  assistant manager  of Cubazucar,  left
                               Habana on 5  September 1962  for Prague,  Bucharest,  Beirut,
                               Cairo, and Tokyo  for the  purpose of discussing  sugar  shipments
                               with those countries.
