Subject's son, Philip )taurice STERN,
was granted a liaison clearance in
Parch 1961 when he was employed by
State Department as Deputy Assistant
Secretary of State for Public Affairs.


OS  INDICES RESULTS:

        The  file on Subject's husband Hdgar B STERN, reflects that
 Subject is the dauhter of one of the principal stockholders of Sears
 end Robuck Company and inherited several million dollars from her
 futher's estate. Subject's deceased sister, Varion Rosenwald STER,
 had been married to Alfred K. STERN who fled behind the Iron Curtain
 from Yexico in 1957 with his second wife,  iartha DODD STERN.

         Subject's son, Philip 1i. STERN, is a f.rmer oner of the
Vorthern Virginia Sun.  In 1961 Philip 1. STERN was nsmed as one of
a  ba-rd of advisors  to Bubert BEMPHRE!.

        In June 196T, the Office of Security was advised by t r . GOODWIN's
office  Assistant to the DCI), that a Yrs. BULLER had called the Agency
on behL'  of P1-A lip ¶TERNf, a writer, to request a copy of the current
security -testionn ire which is used for new applicants to CIA. Yrs.
7.L-ER also slid that )r. STERW vas doing a piece on security' and
t:d obt- ined a copy of the secrecy form used by the State TDeprtnent
1n- wisreC to have a copy of the CIA form.  Imr. GOODWI4 explained to
rc. ThULE   that CIA has no st-ndard form; it vmries on an individual
