When, 1 expressed mild skepticism, Acevedo -urgently repeated his -request and I agreed. Within a surprisingly short time tha -Cuban,-,.Victor Espinosa,, arrived- at my office (he. said he had taken. the plane Imtedi--. ately)i Espinosa gave-his address and telephone number as follows: 415 East 52nd Street, ILA 1-7375. A sumary of his S3statements follows... . - . - Espinosa. hasa-been involved in Cuban:. liberation,activitias for many -years., He opposaed. atiata and opposes Caatro., -e is not a-member of. the March.13 Movement, but has long been very close-to many of its-leaders, including Cubelas. Espinosa was trained. by CIA, in both Louisiana and Guatemala, and was one of those who was sent into Cuba prior to the 3ay of --igs. He plans to become an American citizen in Augusc of 4his year-. He admires the United. States and American Strength and comae- tence in many fields.. He asked a New York acquaintenance o&- his for the name of someone in the Department involved in 1tin American affairs. . He -was told Acevedo knew such an offcial. A little earlier this year Zspinosa received a request from one of his reliable Cuban contacts in urope, asking that ha come there quickly. -spinosa went to Miami, obtained falae Cuban papers, and went to 1aris.
