1. Subject phoned me on 9 September 1959 to say that he was-
in Atlantaand to ask if anything rd been done concerning our use
of him in \the :omirican Republic VI told h'im that we are still
- - raiting the resxlth of .the inveligation 'and that I would be in
touch with h=i when the information is complete. He said it was
rather urge.: that he go to the Do ican Republic because of the
may rumors that something is about to start there against Cuba.
I told him that I appreciated his sense of urgency but that the
matter is n' . that I can control. Subject said that he has
some business reasons for going there but that they are not
sufficiently =gent to warrant his spending his own fonds for a
trip to the .,=inican Iiepublic at this time. He said that Joe
. 3ER3LA and a number of others have been discussing the counter-
feiting of Umited States dollars and Cuban pesos for use in
connection with Cuban revolutionary activities.

possible seri~os violation of United States law, I uould urge him
to visit the I office in Atlanta end to give then the full

day.
3. On 2 September Subject phoned me at r home to say that
he had been to see the FBI people in Atlanta ant that they had
referred him to the Secret Lervice office there beca.se of the
counterfeitin, aspect. He said no one seemed particularly
interested in the gun running aspect of the situation. He said
that the Secre. Service had asked him to go to Xiami at his own
expense to o-:ain further information on the natter. He asked
my advice. I-said that I could not influence him one way or the
other on ahis since I gas not in a position to direct his activities,
but -I felt he nlet be better off to take no action in regard to
this s tvation sLnce he was not in a position to lay out the
additione.l mney that would be required for another trip to iami.
I told Srbject I would be in touch with him as soon as I had further
