Subject phoned me on 25 September to report that a super- secret meeting was to be held in ashingt-n durin_ the week of 20 September. The conferees w;is.- ,4;f hezT firzncfcr of the opposition to C.--S2 in Cuba. The purpose of the meetong is to decide on action to be taken against 0iSTR1. 2. Subject said he was invited to attend by Jorge BEThA3T, one of the leaders of the group. Also attending will be one i,-1- Uunez (fnu), who lives on his yacht in Miami. Subjezt said they are interested in him because of his contacts with the World-Wide Inter- national Service, the news agency with which he is affiliated. He said the Cuban opposition does not intend to let C-SMO harvest the next sugar crop. 3. Subject said he ould like to attend the meeting, but has invested so much money in the Cuban matter alre.dy without any return, that he cannot do so unless we are prepared to uderrite his attendance.
