                     1. Os aide DORTICts, presidesA of Cuba,   reivad in Lima on 4 June where he was
                     met by President rR17O and a- hndful of diplomata and goveroment officials. At
                     the Peruvian military's insistande, no   litary honors were accorded. The Feru-
                     vian Government, acting at the last moment,. ordered DJRTICCS,' plane to land at
                     Las lnmas, a restricted milit.ory base, and in doiig so upset Aprista -and Comau-
                     nist plans to hold adeonstrion of supi;ort at the airport. The two-day visit
                     WaS mar.,ed by a rather cold reception from the local ,overjment and pros, with
                     only La fribuna, the 4pria.uanewpaper, 6iving the visit front pae publicity.
                     In summ.%ry, S.ation Lina belteves that DCRlTIC'S' visit was a failure as far as
                     increasing public sentiment in support of Cuba ia concerned.      .

                     2. The Station's KUWAGE effort to counter any adverse effects of DORTIGCS' visit
                     wero instrumented by a variety of agents. The program was as followas

                    based on Reference A, were distributed in Lima on 3 Jun-eand 4 June.   An addi-

                    buted. -Copies of Uhese leaflets are forwarded as attaont A.

                        b.  Cn 4 JuIeMAL dovote his noontime radio pro         to an attack
                    against Communist   etration &:4 manipulation of the Cuban revolution. The pro-
                    gram was announced througih pai newspaper advortisaments which are forwarded for
                    Headqttrtcrs only as attachment S. Reference 8 material was passed to,     DEC11AL

                        a,  I   R  nd           collaborating with Aprieta university students,
                    were respo sible fcr erecting tw9 large banners readin,, Estamos con Cuba, pero
                    no al Cotuunismo, one acroes the entrance to the airport an another across Ave-
                    ida  Arequipa, on..ef Lia'a most traveled streets. Those banners were put up
                    early on 4 June and later tha: dsy Communist teams managed to destroy both of then
                    but not before they were- een by tuousands of peoPle.. In addition, 30,000 copies
                    of three other leaflets, s  itachmnt C.  ere distributed before and during DORTi-
                    CCS.vst,0~1   J.ORGE reported test the Conwdists were distributing leaflets
                    of their own, attachment D for Feadquarters only, and one of his distribution teas
                    ws  attacked in the vicinity of San 1Marcon University.

                        d. In addition to highlithting anti-C1LTRO, anti-Communist material on his

                    own policy somewhat and in both editorial, and news columns attacked the DCRTC.'S
                    visit. The articles are forwarded as attchment E for Headquarters only.

                       e       SIC, in the 4 June issue of the DL C1ITY.1 magazine, launched an
                    attack a ainst APMA and es-eciaily Armando    ANUEVA for his support and promo-
                    tion of the CASTRO revolutie. Acoording to[D' I.IRGE, this article was much
                    discussed by the Apristas, causing a great many second thoughts on the continuation
                    of APHA support for Cuba.
