                             report attributed to CIA Miami which said that Malor  illia  Alexander
                             iNcrgar, of the Cuban    1 i-4  1-        plot to assaarinate Castro,

                             Uas going on because the attribution of this report was placing him in

                            on this matter, said he would do so, and explained that the

                            Charles Andzrson, 'H/FI, on 1 August, and that Anderson had transmitted
                            it to the bareau immediately.  A'SOAR told inderson that he had atte-pted
                            to give this informtion  to Reichhardt orally, but that Ecichhardt had
                            ignored it and asked him to orepare a written report on the matter.)

                                 2,  Reichhardt said that he was out of touch with A.BGAR who had
                           told  hiU that he was going to New York and would probably stop in hash-
                           ingtons  but had not checked out withi him before leaving. At the tim
                           of this call  I was unaware that AMBUAR had been in touch with kaashington.

                           *    3,  Reichhardt said that he was ont of touch alo  with  lunez
                           Fortuondo.  He said he had tried to phone kunez on a m~noer of occasions
                           but the phone was not answered.  Discreet in;uiries in Miami rlso in-
                           dicated that Nunes' location is unknown at this time.  Reichhardt said
                           he is still holding the letter fron Col. King to Nunez.

                                .   Reitchardt phoned -e again at 1930 to say that he had  eVst
                           talked with the FM-t officer investigating the renort o' the alleged
                           plot, to assarsinate Castro. The FM1 man told him that his instructions
                           did not say to protect the source, and that therefore he would have to
                           hit Morgan hard on the basis of t  reoort.   Feichhardt said that he
                           was again u ble  to reach             wanited to know i ohe  source
                           atiould ue vrotected, He ~r~       hat  if we want the source of Lhe
                           report protected, tne :BI in  ashinrton abould be informed in a manner

                           dareat needs additional details on the circunstanes surrounding the
                           procurement of .h Lnformation by  'J, in oz-der to be able to interogate
                           Morgan intelligently,
