                                IZ  The referent menorandum reported infornation fror
                          a  ZRAit   intelligence  -i rt of a statenent mde  by the
                          4!nisr   -Counellor  (MC) of the Cuban Emnbassy- in:
                          DoIA 24 September 1977, that Cuban exiles such as
                             DJAZL~(fnul  (sic) and others had been involved in the
                          asassnation   of  President John F. Kennedy.  he believe
                          that this could  refer either to Pedro DIA  Lanz, or nis
                          brother 11larcos DIAZ Lan:, formerly Chief and Deputy Chief,
                          respectively. of  the Ciiban Revolutionary Air FL'*ce. Both
                          entered the U3.S. from Cuba as exiles in mid-i959.  Since
                          thac time the DIAZ Lanz brothers reportedly have  been
                          closely associated with, and involved in numerouI  activitiec
                          with, Frank S1TURGIS (aka FIOij 11 cf                  I sic
                          Agency assisted in the evacuation of Tharcos, and eedro
                          entered the U.S. on his own.  Although both were debriefed
                          by the Agency, there is no indication that they were ever
                          considered Agency assets.
                               2_.         IStation queried source for further infor-                      I
                         nation  as promisea in paragraph 4  of the reference.  The
                         source  said that the MC referred to the  enned  assassina-
                         tion during  a pep talk to party members to maintain good
                         securit     Further, that the MCsaid  that 'recrnt infor- I
                         mation had  arrived implicating DIA7 Lan (fnzi) (sic),
                         forer  air  force officer, in the Kennedy assacsination
                         but did not nention  any other Cul-an exile, by nAme or give
                         any further details,  Although  the MC did not identifV the
                         source of his  information. t            Station source had L.-
                         the impression that the  inform Idnln might have been included
                         in a cable from the Cuban -Ministr of Foreign Affairs.  The
                         source is unable to elicit further information  from the   .    .       .
                         wit hout jeopardizing his security.
