Response to Call-in to Agency Headquarters/Initial Contact (Telephone)
with John Danial Williamson, Carrollton, Georgia

                    1. On 7 January 1975 Albert S. Coleman of the Washington Field
Office called us to pass on information that he had just been givmn by
DC Headquarters, regarding a call received by the Agency
duty officer on New Year's Eve from one John Danial Williamson of
Carrollton, Georgia. Williamson identified himself as a Methodist
minister and gave his address as Route #2, Box 3646, Carrollton,
              Georgia, Phone: (404) S54-8443.

                   2. Ia his call to Agency Headquarters, Hilliamson said that be had a
friend who had information on the impending overthrow of a foreign govern-
ment. The information regarded illegal shipment of arms from the US to
the foreign country. Williamson said that his friend bad wanted to try to
sell the information to the foreign country concerned but that when the
friend told 'dilliamson about it Williamon prevailed on him to let him
(Williamson) bring it to the attention of the proper sovernment agency,
resulting in his call to our heaidquarters on New Year's Eve. Williamson
asked that someone from the Agency be put in contact with him.

                   3. On the afternoon of 7 January 1975, after verifying through the
phone operator that Williaon was listed in the Carrollton area (he
a ctally lives at Roopille, Georgia, on Tyns Road, but the Roopville
phones are handled under the Carrollton exchange), we called his number.
we were informed by a young male voice, apparently his son, that Williamtson
was indeed a Methodist minister, but that ha taught school every day during
the ee'k in the high school at Franklin, Georgia, except on Saturdays when
he worked all day at a hardware ators at Rockmart, Georgia. We were told
that he prsached on Sunday mornings. We wera not told what he does on
Sunday afternoons. Since he was not to be at home until after 5 PH, we
called him from our own home that some evening.

                   4. Williamson seemed to be expectin3 our call although -e had
identified ourselves during the earlier call. Re gave us essentiall he.
same information furnished during his New Year's Eva call. He said that
the friend about whom he called is a former parishioner and Lvesi in the
Carrollton area. Ue preferred not to provide us with the friend's name
and address. The information, however-that thich we were able to
ascertai-sounded on the up-an-up, as far as Mr. Williamsou's part in it
was oncerned, for he seemed to be a alacere and uell intentiuned individ-
l hen # tried to at least learn the name of the foreign country
involved, Williasnon said that his friend would not give hims that
              information. T
