Reterence is made to the letter to the Attorney
General from G. Robert Blakey, Chief Counsel and Dir ector,
HSCA, dated December 13, 1978, which, in connection with
the HSCA's investigation into the assassination of
Martin Luther King,. Jr., requested delivery of the remaining
portions of the FBI's investigative file pertaining to
the robbery of the Bank of Alton, Illno-is.
Enclosed are an original and one copy of a memo-
randum in response to referenced letter. It is reaused
that you furnish a copy of the enclose d memorandum to
the HSCA.

NOTE: James Earl Ray was a suspect in the Alton, Illinois,
bank robbery which occurred on 7/13/67. By request dated
8/9/77, the HSCA requested delivery of all investigative
reports concerning this robbery in the files of FBI Head-
quarters. Copies of these reports were delivered to the
HSCA on 9/19/77.
HSCA request of 12/13/78 asked for delivery
f the remaining portions of the file and that this material
e reviewed with the understanding that the HSCA intends
o enter the material as part of the Committee's public
ecord.
