SHAW, who was arrested, indicted and is awaiting trial in connection with the charge that he conRpired with I e Harvey OSJ ALD and David . FEiRIE to assassinate U resident KLNN LDY, was described by one Jesse CORE as a political liberal who was 'very rdmiring' of President KENNEDY. According to C(RE,. SHA X talked of voting for KENNEDY in 1960 and wore a KI.NNIDY for President button. Jesse CORE worked with SHA W in 1963 at the: International Trade Mart in New Orleans. Security indices reflect that on,: Jesse R. CORE, Chief Consul with USIS in the Amrerican Emnbasay in Madras, India, in 1950,. was a -friend of David Gilmore BA.I..D1N j!N9Rf4 preach which involved a Mrs. Lillian BAXTER- of Calcutta, India who also was known to CO . Mrs. BAXTER who was believed to be an American with Indian citizenship, had formerly been married to an Anglo-Indian planter in India and was said to have become a prostitute and in 1951 to have been kept by a wealthy Marwari.. She was believed to be controlled by Indian Intellig'nce and it was thought that she might be an agent for any of several governments including England and Russia. She was an associate of David Gilmore BALDWVIN and was sspected of stealing security documents from him. There is insufficient infoernation regarding Jesse CORE, Clay SHAV's associate, to positively idrentify him as DI^LD!VIN's friend, Jesse A. CORE. but it seems quite brobable that they are the same. BALDWIN is from New Orleans and at would appear that his friend COR)' is also, in as much as he seins in all probability to be the husband of a l-rs. Jess CORE . nee: Lucy .uggles, who as of 1956 was said to be married to a man in the State Departient and to bc somewhere overseas, and as of 1957 was said to reside in New Orleans, Louisina.i. This
