SUBJECT:  Request for Funds from AWHIP/l, and Information
          JE Further Efforts to get AMLASH/l Invited out
          of Cuba

     l. just prior to AWEHIP/1's departure for Europe onl
22 September, he advised us that he had received a letter
fro  aayoundo TORR.ES aka El Guajiro. Torres, It is re-
called, Is the person through whom AMlASH1 first sent a
letter to AWIP/l  requesting that he be invited Out to
the Surgeon's Conference in Mexico City in November 1964.
     2.  AMWaIP/1 sent a letter to our accoodation ad-
dress on 23 Sept. The letter contained two points of in-
terest:  (1) Torres advised AWVHIP/l that he was applying
for an American visa.  e stated he had gotten-his'air-
fare to Miami from Mexico City from another friend, and he
requstod  a loan of 200 pesos from AMWHIP/1 to cover visa
costs, etc; (2) With reference to our friend (presumably
AMIASH/l), Torres stated that he had spoken to a friend o
           his in Canadafr eg ro

behdieves (re altS's exit problem) that this man may be
able to arrange an Invitation for AMLASH to visit his in
Canada.
