       MESSAGE OF THE PRESIDENT
                     MAX WEITZ
This is our tenth year as a National Bar Association with
Chapters in some of the principal cities in the United States.
Today our Association is known the width and breadth of
this nation by anyone interested in problems dealing with
Immigration and Naturalization. And that includes the De-
partment of Justice, Immigration and Naturalization Serv-
ice; the State Department, which includes Consular Officers
and the Passport Office; all the social agencies dealing with
Immigration and Naturalization; Senators, Representatives,
various officials in and out of Government service; educators
and many others.

bar association deserves. We are proud of our past, and,
God willing, will continue to discharge our duties as ac-

in the field of Immigration and Naturalization. A number
of our members have had many years of experience in this
field, some as much as twenty-five and thirty years. Another
large group are former employees. This gives one an idea
as to the background and experience of the vast majority
of the members.
There is considerable romance in the field of Immigration
and Naturalization. Here we have a human interest situa-

individuals and families. In numerous instances the outcome
of a proceeding will determine whether a family will be
broken up or kept together-in many instances one or more
members of the family are American citizens. During the
proceedings there is great anxiety and emotional distress
by the aliens and the members of his or her family.
It is here where the attorney who specializes in this field
can be of inestimable service to the client and the govern-
ment. Firstly, by counseling the alien and advising him of
our laws and helping him assemble his proper documenta-
