mtasure specifically repealing the inmigration acts of March 3. 1903,
and March 22. 1904, ii order t1hat for pui rpmses of references all inani-
gration legislation since 1902 might appear in a convenient form.
The genonl inniigration law of to-day is for the most part the act of
March 3, 1903.
Ten sections of that avt are reenacted in this bifl withouat any change
whatever. Two sections are omitted from the present bill, as the do
not relate to the subject of inunigration. Neithlr ofl1 these. sectiois,
laowever, are repealed. Twentyeight sections of the old act are
changed in greater or l0b degree. as Apevified below. Sc5tins 85, 3,

The salient new features of this bill are as follows; A $6 head tax;
an educational text; a financinl qualidiention; an extension of the
excluded classes; provisions permitting foreign inspection and facil-
tating distribution.
