STAATS COMPTROLLER GENERAL OF THE UNITED STATES BEFORE THE SUBCOMMITTEE ON REPORTS, ACCOUNTING, AND MANAGEMENT OF THE COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS UNITED STATES SENATE,ON S. 2268 94th CONGRESS Mr. Chairman, and Members of the Government Operations Committee, I appreciate this opportunity to discuss our thoughts on S. 2268, a bill to revise and restate certain functions and duties of the Comptroller General of the United States, S. 2206, a bill providing for Congressional appoint- ment of the Comptroller General, S. 2353, a bill providing for General Accounting Office audits of the Internal Revenue Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms, and S. 2418, a bill providing for General Accounting Office audits of the Federal Reserve Boards the Federal Reserve Banks, the Internal Revenue Service, the Comptroller of the Currency, and the Office of Alien Property. Because I feel that each bill involves unique considerations and should be studied separately, I have prepared separate statements on each bill.
