Duting the survey, we considered the audit findings reported by the Army Audit Agency in May 1961 and nquired into actions taken by the Cemmad with respect to recomendattos made. W6 found that you implvmnted or otherwise satisfied the reseamadations made in the Army Audit Agency's report. In addition, during the approximate 1-year period preceding our survty you took steps to cope with several problem areas Which we believe had previeasly influencod the Contrad's effectiveness. In particular, we believe your recent actions to alleviate past shortages of recruiters, increase the authorised number of recruitars, and develop information on the reason for the less of recraiters were important steps toward increasng the effective- neAS of the reoretting program. The results of our survey were discussed with ybu on Jamary 14, 1971. We have since received your writtn conments on the matters discussed. You referred to additional studies you have initiated, such as upgrading the tecniqu6s wed to screen prospective recruiters and the potential for additional rearaiting of persons with prior service. Accordingly, we are ssuing no detailed report on these matters. do appreciate the courtesies and assistance extended our representatives.
