Beach, Regional Federal Highway Administrator Region Nine, Federal Highway Administration Building 40, Denver Federal Center Denver, Colorado 80225 Dear Mr. Beach: We have made a review for the settlement of accounts of the accountable officers at the Regional Office, Region Nine, Federal Highway Administration, for the period April 1, 1966, through June 30, 1970. Our review, which was completed in August 1970, was directed primarily toward evaluating current administrative procedures and controls and accounting practices pertinent to our settlement responsibilities. Tests of financial transactions were made to the extent deemed necessary. We did not review program activities. Our review did not disclose any significant questionable practices or procedures in the processing of financial transactions, nor did we find any significant errors in the payments processed during the period examined. As provided in 8 GAO 3, the records of financial transactions through fiscal year 1970 may be transmitted to the Federal Records Center for storage in accordance with your records management program. Copies of this report are being sent to the Federal Highway Administrator and to the Assistant Secretary for Administration, Department of Transportation, for their information.
