For survey purposes we randomly selected 44 members of your command and compared data recorded on leave and earnings statements and in the Personnel Financial Records with data and records In the Officer qualification Record and Service Record Book. We also examined the procedures and controls employed by your staff to provide reasonable assurance that all pay/personnel data is promptly and accurately Input to JUMPS/MMS. The discrepancies noted during our survey that we identified as originating with your command, and/or were within your authority to correct, were discussed with your Personnel Officer who assured us that appropriate action would be taken. Specifically, we founds *-two cases where leave balanse corrections had been reported to the Finance Center, but the corrections did pot process. Prompt follow-up action was not taken by your staff when the corrections did not appear on subsequent leave and earnings statements. The potential effect is $2,149.12 and $374.68 due the Government from the individuals in question. --one case of erroneous leave computation reported on a unit diary. An attempt to correct the matter with a second unit diary entry compounded the error. The Finance Center was advised by letter to correct the leave balance which was acknowledged. However, an additional adjustment to the man's pay is neces- sary to collect an $11.40 overpayment for leave rations. We discussed this case with the disbursing officer and a checkage was made. %9~~10 ~77
