     The Honorable Alice Daniel
     Assistant Attorney General
     Civil Division
     Department of Justice

          Attention: Louis Davis, Attorney
                       Commercial Litigation Branch

     Dear Ms. Daniel:

Subject: afor Leo D. Doyle, et al. v. United States

Mr. Davis of your staff has requested that we review
the U.S. Army Finance and Accounting Center's calculation
of the amount of backpay due the plaintiffs in the subject
     case.

Enclosed is our s-umma:rization of the calculation we
received from the U.S. Army Finance and Accounting Center
(Finance) relative to Eldon Craig Loe, plaintiff number 5
. in the subject case..

allowances due the member from the day following his
wrongful discharge, September 6, 1975, until the lawful
date for discharge of March 31,: 1977, as set forth in
the court order. Also, included in the refund to the
plaintiff are medic-al costs and he-alth irsurance
expenses the Army reports were incurred by the plain-
tiff during his time of wrongul discharge.

The amount of plaintiff's backpay for his court-
ordered constructive active duty is reduced by appropri-
ate offsets including his civilian earnings of $34,515.46
which amount was derived from gross figures supplied by
the Finance Center and not verified in any way by us.
Finally, the enclosure does not take into consideration
deductions for veteran benefits, if any. The Finance
Center indicates that, undue delay would result from
