 Dear Mr. Chairman:

 As agreed with your office, enclosed is information about
 the crops on which the U.S. Department of Agriculture's
 Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS)
 made $8.8 billion in disaster assistance payments for crop
 years 1988 through 1993. Table 1 presents summary
 information on the type and number of crops for which
 disaster payments were made and the total payments for
 those crops.
