         This is in reply to yor letter of December 9,.'1977, requesting copies
    of all docuants, recordsi, letters, notes, and reports cow-oca g our
    audit relating to the )ytcronasian Claims Comission.
         Your letter cites the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C.
    £552. AM an agency responsibIe to the Cogress, the General Accounting
    Office (GAO) is not subject to. the provisions of tUat Act4 It is or
    policy bowevr, to make our records available to the public to the extent
    disclosure is consIst*nt with our function and respmslbilities to the
    Congress and is not prohibited by law. We have. ismsed rteulations con-
    carning the availability of GAO records to the public. These repUlations
    are contained in Fart 81 of title 4 of the Cod of Federal Regulations.
    We have consi4aord your request as having been oade under these regulstioas.

         GAO's International Division has in proces a report tentatively
    titled Coopennting Hicrontaia War Claims# tlnber ID-77-62. That report
    is still in draft form, and will not be issued In final until early 1978.
    we will be happy to furnish you a copy of the final reportp once published
    should you desire. I und   arW.4 fr*u our International Division auditors
    that the report does not name or identify you* or discuss )ur post employ-
    mont with the Micronestan Claim. Coniasliom.

         The warkpapere underlying the draft report are exwapt from disclosure
    under section 81.6(a)(5) of our rezulatioso uhich provides the foLloxing
    exception to disclosure of G40 records:
