near Tucson, Athoens, stores, returns to i nice, recovers parts
from, and disposes of surplus  .S. military aircraft, ircra.L
recovered from the Center are used by the miittary service.,

role in providinq parts is as important as its role in providinq
aircraft. About 1,500 aircraft from the perfiaem and the Coast
Guard are at the Center. A average of 1,130 leave each year, of
which 120 are returned to searice, 100 are sold to other
ocntries, 190 are donatet to ptblic agonies, aud 720 are
delared surplus and sold, The value of parts removed and
returned to the services' active inventory has recently averae e

cost-effective source of aircraft and parts, the Center mut be
more effectively manae4. The followinq problems were
identitied: the uervices have not been timely in disposing of
