Albosta Chairman, Subcommittee on Human Resources Committee on Post Office and Civil Service House of Representatives The Honorable Patricia Schroeder Chairwoman, Subcommittee on Civil Service Committee on Post Office and Civil Service House of Representatives Subject: Effect of Fiscal Year 1982 Budget Reductions on the Federal Labor Relations Authority (GAO/FPCD-83-18) This report responds to your March 11, 1982,i request that we review the impact of fiscal year 1982 budget reductions on the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA). The budget reduc- tions occurred at FLRA as part of the actions taken by the President and the Congress to reduce the cost of the Federal Government. FLRA's initial budget request to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for fiscal year 1982 was nearly $18 million. OMB approved and included in the President's budget $16.8 mil- lion. FLRA's final 1982 appropriation was $14.2 million, approximately 11 percent less than its 1981 appropriation and about 15 percent less than its approved request for 1982. The $14.2 million excluded a supplemental appropriation of $645,000 approved by the Congress in September 1982. (966093)
