Nuclear Powerplants
Since the Three Mile Island accident in 1979, state and
locaI emergency planning and preparedness around nuclear
powerplints have improved considerably under the leader-
ship of the Federal Emergency Management Agency All

offsite eme'rgency preparedness plans FEMA has formally
aipproved( 24 of these plans, but it does not anticipate
approving the remaining plans before September 1985
