The Sales Program is conducted pri- marilythrough mailorder and bookstore oper- ations. GAO found that while significant improve- ments have been made in the Program dur- ing the past 2 years, opportunities exist to further improve operations by developing and using available information to better select, price, and manage documents for sale. GAO also found that the bookstores were financially viable in 1982 and con- cluded that increased management atten- tion would improve their operations.
