Special Pay And Benefits Granted

To Select Groups Of General

Schedule Employees

Special pay and benefits have been granted
to select groups of General Schedule employ-
ees because of the nature of their work to
help solve recruitment and retention problems.

GAO has identified the major pay and bene-
fit programs that provide for special over-
time pay, early retirement, and pay rates
higher than those in the General Schedule.
GAO also is providing a list of other Federal
pay systems that exist and a compila-
tion of prior GAO reports dealing with pay
and benefit issues.
