The memo- .ra-fT4n s discussed problems that FERC operating offices were experiencing with DOE-furnished support services. You were particularly concerned about th apparent in- consistencies between the information contained in our pre- vious report (EMD-79-53, May 1, 1979) and FERC's internal memorandums, and the implications such inconsistencies had on the adequacy and thoroughness of our review1 In that report, we said that according to FERC officials, ,DOE's processing of job applications was being done in a reasonable time frame, and no serious problems existed. This report is based on our followup of the information supplied in the FERC memorandums forwarded with your request letter, and our findings are consistent with those in our previous report. It was discussed with your office in August 1979. __ As agreed with your office, we limited our followup /work to wa aT4& to be the more troublesome problems that FERC officials lired in their memorandums, i.e.Cper- sonnel related problem. We selected four offices--Of ice of Pipeline and Producer Regulation, Office of Opinions and Reviews, Office of Congressional and Public Affairs, and Office of Administrative Law Judges--for review. We re- viewed available records and discussed the situation with FERC program 'fficials, the Executive Director, the Special Assistant to the Executive Director, and the Chairman, FERC.
