The Government Can Be More

Productive In Collecting

Its Debts By Following

Commercial Practices

Each year Federal departments and agencies
write off as uncollectible millions of dollars
owed the Government by individuals and or-
ganizations.

Debt collection in the Federal Government is
a slow and expensive process, but it has sig-
nificant potential for improvement.

By adopting certain private sector practices,
the Federal Government can better collect its
debts and recover billions of dollars.
