To carry out the poli- cy, the President proposed that neiier Feder- al funding nor support should be gi e to comulete a large conncial reproeassing fa- cility being constructed at Barnmwll, South Carolina. Later in 1977 the Department of Energy announced that the Fedetal Gaverr- ment would, at sore u0ecified fhture date, begin accepting and taking title to spef, nu- clear fuel that previously was to be- rep -;ess- ed. GAO con.cludes that (1) Federal fundiEwj c short-term research activities at th.
