         The President's eighth special %esedge for fiscal year
1978 pursuant to the Impoundment Contrcl A t of 1974 proposed a
rescission of budget authority for $30 rillion, four new
deferrals totaling $55.1 million, and revisionz to two
previously transwitted deferrals. The tescissicas involved the
Department of Energy's atomic energy defense activities and the
cepartment of Agriculture's agricultural ccnservation program.
The 45-day period of continuous session during which these funds
may be withheld ponding congressional consideration will end
July 15, 1978. The proposed deferrals invclve construction and
rehabilitation projects of the Department of the Interior, the
Alaska Hydroelectric Leoer Development Fund of the Corps of
Enqiueers, the Department of Energy, financial and technical
assistance of the Economic Development Administratic, and
salaries and exper ses of the Internatinal Communications
Agency. (BBS)
