The annual report summarizes GAO conclusions and
recommendations resultiig from audits and other review work inr
the Department of Defttnse. The report was compiled to assist
congressional committe0 in their review of budget requests for
fiscal year 1979. Previ-ous GAO reports brought these matters to
the attention of thae congressional and departmental officials.

defense; natural resources, environment, and energj; and
