 How Federal Programs

 Affect Migrant And

 Seasonal Farmworkers In The

 Connecticut River Valley

 Department of Health, Education,
   and Welfare
 Department of Labor

 Office of Economic Opportunity

GAO examined Federal programs designed to
help alleviate hardships of migrant and other
 seasonal farmworkers in the Connecticut
River Valley and makes recommendations for
 their improvement.
GAO points out that the Federal programs
were designed for conditions associated with
migrant workers nationally, some of which
did not apply to valley workers. GAO recom-
 mends, therefore, that Federal agencies
 identify farmworkers' needs before making
 future grants.
