This report, which discussed the need to direct the Department of Agriculture's cooperative forestry programs toward increasing sottwood sawtimber supplies on private, nonindustrial forest land, has not been released for general distribution because of the former Chairman's request. Our previous report contains recomendations to the Secretary or Agriculture. Section 236 of the Legislative Reorcanization Act of 1970 requires the head of a Federal agency to submit a written statement on actions he nas taken on our recommendations to the House and Senate C9- Committees on Govrnment Operations not later than 60 :days from the date of the release of the report and to the House and Senate Committees on Appropriations with the jagency'r first request for appropriations made rore than 60 days after the date of the release of the report.
