      Dear ajor 3alter9

Further reference Insmade to your letter dated March 23p 1973, ins
vhich you request further consideration of yourrclaim for wileaaejjfru
How York, Nw York, to Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, less mlsTge paid
to you for travel rom St. Louis, Wtsvout to bheppard Air Force Base,
Texas, incident to your call to exteuded &tive duty Lu August 197t,

You were advised in the sttlement froa our Transportation end Clawas
Divisiont dated september 19, 1972, that since you received your orders at
Ste Louis, ttissouri the place to which they wore addressed# your entitle-
ment to the travel allowance extends frcm there, twre you were orderd to
active duty, to your duty station. Further, that the fact that after you
received your active duty orders you traveled trom St. Louis# Iiseouri, to
tqev York, lew York, for your personal conynence and from thre to your
du'y station, does not increase your entitinaut to a travel allo ac
      citing paragr..ph f6005S and W4156, case I of the Joint Travel Regultlon4
      as havin& applcatioa.

You conl'.4 that since your orders contained few York# ew Tort, as
Iyour home of xtccrd, you should be entitled to travel pay frou there since
it has beer detirwined by th Air Force that you did lu act leave for
active duty from that location. Furthor9 you contend that stan you
travoled to Peit (ork you were not on active duty, and the Air Force had no
risht to expeut /ou to rein in St. Louis, suggesting that otherwise the
Air Force would ba unjustifiably obligatiug you to remAtn in St, Louis.

The record shows that by Special Order A2f3, dated April 22, 1971,
issued by lead.jnrter., M r Reserve Personnel Center, Department ofLthe .
Air Force, you were ordered to extended active duty for 24 months begin.
ing AuSust 7, 1971, for servie at the United States Ar Force Aadmy
Hospital and were directed to report to the Hedical SerVice Shool,
Sheppard Air Force Dase, #Wichita Falls, Teas, on August 8 t1971, for a
tout of temporary duty to attend the Officer aste Hilitary Training,
hadical Course 1DB0104 prior to your reporting to the United States Air
