          Various lavs generally provide the Department of
 Defense options for crediting rimburseut .   for certain
 expenditures for the cost of material, work, or services
 furnished to other activities. Re 'aburszable transactions incluie
 inter- or intra-Federal agency transactions, foreig military
 sales and assistance transactions, and United Nations support
 transactions. The Department of Defense can credit
 reimbursements either to the appropriation current in the year
 in which the reimbursement was earned or to the similar
 appropriation current at the time the reimbursement was
 co'lected. Recommendations: Legislation autborizing Defensels
 current practices should be amended by the Congress so that all
reimbursements are cre,'ited to appropriations current in the
year the reimbursejents are earned. (Author)
