MR. DJZREJIAI: We'll proceed with our background
briefing. Again, ON BACKGROUND, off camera, off sound, attributable
to senior administration officials. For your lnforaatLonni

ndonesla, and then we'll proceed to M for the bilaterals at Tokyo.
SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL: I don't have any written
statemnt to lead off with. I'll just mke a few coments about the
trip and ASEAN.
The President will be stopping, as you know, prior to his
Tokyo summit attendance in Indonesia. He will be in Bali. While in
Bali, he will have bilateral meetings with President Soeharto to
discuss the full range of our relationship with Indonesia. And then
he will.also be meeting with the ASEAN foreign ministers who will be
in Bali at the same time that he's there.

.And again, he will be discussing with them various issues
that they consider to be important to them and also some of the
things that he would like to discuss. I don't think I have to tell

last year.
Q What was the first year?

            SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALs '67. (M4ahter.) I
ought to be able -- I ought to pass out some stuff here, actually.

MR. DJEREJZANi I think you could use it for the rest of
your briefing. (Laughter.)

SENIOR ADMINISTRATION OFFICIAL: Those are good figures.
I think those are very impressive figures. Anyhow, I chose how well
I think the relationship has worked between us.

So we're trying to work together with ASEAN against
protectionism to keep our markets open. We have frequent
