Mr. Tim Ford

Dear Mr. Ford:

I noticed your name in a ACLU
release.

You might be interested to
know that I was an official
state witness at the last
execution in California -
from which I made this sketch.

( I'm an artist-journaoist,
TV currently, who felt that an
execution should be seen, so
went directly to State Dept.
of Corrections, which made me
a witness. Incidentally, the
ACLU has a 5 minute, narrated
film of m drawings of the ex-
ecution. *

I've covered W'War II, Korea,
French Indo-China and Vietnams.
My most searing memory from
war was sketching the execution
of 3 enemy.

I think we all agree there must
be a more enlightened way to curb
violence than to repeat the crime
of murder in legal form.

Feel free to use this sketch in
any way ( we used it in Cal. on
posters and letterheads )**
Enclosed a few extra letterheads.

I hope you're in touch with Doug
Lyons, one of the most knowledgeable
and dedicated forces against cap pun.
in America and head of Calm. ( You
can get in touch with him through
ACLU ).

 B on your 'mportant work.
