                      Sultanate of Oman

The Sultanate of Oman has witnessed apparent developments in all
fields of life under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said.
These developments were accompanied by major developments in
legislation. The most important developments in this respect are the
promulgation of the Basic Law of the State (the constitution), the Judicial
Authority Law, Administrative Judiciary Court Law and the Law of the
Supreme Judicial Council. This has completed the formation of a state
        based on institutions and law.
In order to introduce and identify the new judicial system in Oman,
it is very important, at first, to point out the general rules or the principles
and basis on which this system is built, and then we consider and specify

        affairs by the general assemblies.

              First: Principles of Judicial Organization.
              Second: Types of Judicial.
Third: The Court, their formation and administration.

        First: Principles of Judicial Organization.

Judiciary in Oman, like other comparative judicial systems, is based
on a number of principles of which are:
              1. Independence of the Judicial Authority:
Article (60) of the Basic Law (the Constitution) provides that
the Judicial Authority is independent, and is assumed by
all Courts of different types and degrees. The Courts issue
their judgments according to law. As the result of this
independence many consequences follow. These are:
