S   Tnce y ou have done the Nation fo much right, and your
Ives fo much honour as to declare that the People (under
God) are the original of all jufi Powers; and given us
thereby fair grounds to hop.-, that you really intend their
Frecdom and Profperity ; yet the way thereunto being frequent-
ly ipifiaken, and through haft or error of judgement, thofe who
mean the bell, are many times mif-led fo far to the prejudice of
thcfe that trufi them, as to leave them in a condition neereft to
bQndage, when they have thought they had brought them into a
way of Freedom. And lince woful experience hath manifefled
this to be a Truth, there Lemeth no fmall reafon that you thould
ferioufly lay to heart what at prefent we have to offer, for di[kove-
iy and prevention of fo great-a danger.
And becaufe we have bin the firil moversin and concerning an
Agreerient of the People, as the n {i proper and juft means for
the frling tte long and tedius difraions of this Nation, occali-
oned by nothing move, th.an the uncertainty of our government ;
and fince therei arh bin an Agrerement prepared and prefented by
fome Officers of the Army tQ this honourable Houfe, as what they
thought requifite to be agreed unto by the Peoplc(you approving
thereof) we thall in the firil place deliver our apprehenfions
thereupon.
That an Agreement between thofe that trufi, and thofe who are
trufed,hath appeared a thing accepwable to this honorable Houe,
